SCAMP was formed in 2014 when a group of friends, passionate about musical theatre, discovered a shared love for the quirky off-beat world of the small-cast musical.
We all have a long history of involvement in musical theatre, but found our interest waning in the standard fare of the South Pacifics and Seven Brides of this world. It has all been done, let’s do something new and exciting!
Our passion was reignited by the challenge of staging a revue-style show with a cast of six on a shoe-string budget, and so cue “I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change”, our debut show in February 2015. Our mission ever since has been to find and produce unusual, contemporary shows to the highest possible standard.
As the group has evolved, we have found that we value a collaborative approach to producing our shows. We enjoy workshopping scenes and brainstorming production ideas, and we have found that we can explore the creativity of all our members to great effect in this way.
We have been humbled by the response to our work, with each of our shows to date receiving award nominations and great reviews – but most importantly of all, our audiences have given us wonderful feedback.
